Our People

Ngā Uri

In 1892, the Native Land Court determined the list of customary owners. Ngā Uri are those people who are direct descendants of those tūpuna identified on the Native Land Court list. Today, Ngā Uri are the beneficiaries of the Nelson Tenths’ Reserves Trust – those whānau and hapū that the Crown owes fiduciary duties to as the trustee of the Nelson Tenths’ estate.
